About us

The Water Resources Management Authority of Africa (WRMAA) is an intergovernmental regulatory institution established to oversee, control, and certify strategic water and hydropower infrastructure across the African continent. Empowered through continental cooperation frameworks, WRMAA provides technical governance over dam construction, hydropower development, flood control systems, water treatment facilities, and irrigation networks implemented by member states and licensed contractors.

WRMAA acts as a continental enforcement and certification body, issuing regulatory directives, field inspection notices, engineering validation certificates, and post-construction performance approvals under official authority seal. The institution collaborates with national water and energy ministries, development partners, engineering councils, and infrastructure agencies to ensure that all water-related civil works comply with international dam safety standards, hydrological risk protocols, and environmental safeguard policies.

As a recognized authority, WRMAA maintains a continental registry of accredited engineering firms, EPC contractors, and technical service providers, authorized to undertake water infrastructure projects under its jurisdiction. Every certified project under WRMAA supervision follows strict compliance pathways, ensuring long-term operational safety, climate resilience, and public benefit.
